Frivolity To Reign
In Mock Canoe Fete
Plans have been nearly com
pleted for the mock canoe fete
“Stars Fell on Ali Baba’’ accord
ing to Bob Whitely, fete chair
man.
“We already have seven floats
entered,” Whitely declared, “and
this year the carousal is really
going to mock the ‘Arabian
Nights’ theme of the main canoe
fete.”
Word has been definitely re
ceived that Princess Belshazzar
of Oran will be on hand May 9
to act as official guest of honor
at the fete, according to Whitely.
Late Entrants
Latest entrant in the burlesque
fete allegedly is “Aladdin and His
Magic Lamp,” by the Sigma Kap
pas and the DUs. Not to be left
out, H. H. Hanna’s Spanish ath
letic club has filed intentions of
entering a float on their own,
which promises to be breath
taking.
Floats now entered include:
“Sinbad the Sailor,” “Ali Baba
and the 40 Thieves,” “Persian
Slave Market,” “Desert Oasis,”
“Aladdin and His Magic Lamp,”
and of course the law school

Whitely added, and we are now
dickering with Joe Gurley and
John Cavanagh to hold a special
exhibition of log-rolling.
Slave Auction Planned
In connection with the fete,
plans are reportedly being form
ulated to hold a gigantic slave
auction in front of the Side next
week under the guidance of
Charlie Weisberg.
When approached as to the na
ture of the auction, all Weisberg
would reveal was that, "It will be
an eyeopener."
