Winter Expected To Take Mound Eligibility Stalks Simonsen. Bishop. Ior?es# And Ambrose; Warren Worried as to Relief Twirlers ... Perhaps Gissberg Coach John Warren's Duckling' diamond men will have the oppor tunity to show their wares before a homo town crowd this afternoon at 3:30 for the first time this year when they cross bats with the base bailers from Eugene high. The game is slated to be played 0m the Eugene high field, providing the rain hold's off. If the weather is bad the game will be played on the frosh practice field, just ewj* of Howe field. ——--—. With his first chance to show off his ’41 edition. Warren is still stymied with the big question mark of eligibility. Kik Simon sen, Bill Bishop, Aaron Jones, and Norris Ambrose are still on the banned list. It is possible that the players will be declared eli gible before game time, and cer tain that they will be ready for the scheduled game with Salem Friday. Pitchers Weak With a crimp put in his pitch ing staff by eligibility rulings, Warren will have to seek high and low for a probable starter. He has only A1 Wimer, Dick Rathbun, and Bob Sheridan. Both Rathbun and Wimer have seen plenty of action from the mound this week already and Warren may have to call on the services of Bill Giss berg, first sacker, for a few innings. The probable starting lineup will find Pete Peterson behind the plate, Bill Gissberg on first, one of Warren's numerous third basemen on second. Bob Far row on short, Ed Crane on third. Patrolling- the outfield will be George Sortie, Bob Pul lard, and Dick Burns. The game with Eugene high will set off a busy weekend for the yearlings. Three thoea thwarted in their efforts to play by rain, the fresh will take on two other games this weekend, Friday with Salem in Eugene and Saturday at the penitentiary fee the annual get-together with Lbo inmate team.
