Lay out Program
Adopting the motto, “we’ll tell
the world,’’ the promotion com
mittee for Junior Weekend met
for the first time last night to lay
out its advertising and publicity
campaign.
Plans were developed to use the
mediums of press, radio, and per
sonal speech contacts to create
the spice and myrrh atmosphere
of the Arabian Nights for the
May fete.
First of complete committee
personnel for the weekend, Buck
Buchwach, promotion chairman,
named as his assistants: Ray
Schrick, college newspaper pub
licity; Wes Sullivan, out-of-town
publicity; John Kahananui, ar
ticles and features; Betty Jane
Biggs, managerial secretary.
Also appointed were: Wilbur
Bishop, graphic publicity; Don
Swink and Richard Turner, Port
land and Eugene radio shows;
Jim Frost, co-ordinator of public
relations; and Virginia Bryant,
pamphlets and posters.
Others who will help on the
reportorial angle include: Herb
Penny, Bob Frazier, Mildred Wil
son, Wes Johnson, and Bob Han
cock.

If your knowledge of Russian
goes beyond "da, da,” you may
have a ehance for a free ticket to
“Tovarieh,” University Guild hall
production to be presented April
30-12 and 17-19.
To the first person to trans
late into French and into English
the following Russian words, the
drama division will present one
ticket to the Thursday, April 10,
performance: la Doushka, Nitch
evo, la Wass Loublou, Tatiaska,
Paparoushka, Gospidin, Dro u,
Brat, Tovarieh, Loubitz, Smor
gasbord, and Saskouska.
Here are a couple of hints:
“Tovarieh” means comrade, and
“Smorgasbord” doesn't sound too
much like Russian to us.
Contest rules state that no one
may obtain information from
members of the play’s cast or
from anyone connected with Pi

Here April 10
Dr. Paul J. Raver, administra
tor of the Bonneville project, will
be the third speaker on the stu
dent-faculty assemblies at the
University of Oregon when he
gives a featured address open to
townspeople Thursday morning,
April 10, at 11 o’clock in Gerlin
ger hall.
Born at Logansport, Indiana,
Raver was graduated in civil en
gineering from the University of
Nebraska in 1917, received a de
gree of master of business admin
istration from Northwestern uni
versity in 1927, and a degree of
doctor of philosophy from North
westrn in 1933.
In 1933 Dr. Raver became su
pervisor of the section of rates
and research of the Illinois Com
merce commission, organizing
the section and directing special
research on such subjects as rev
enues, rates, cost of capital, cor
porate relations, rate of return,
securities, and related economic
and financial subjects.
Professor H. Wellington Stew
art, organist at St. Lawrence uni
versity, recently was stung on the
finger by a wasp during a radio
concert. But the show went on
without interruption.

To Sham Trial
Collins vs. Dunn
Case Scheduled
For Lane Court
Third-year law students will
conduct a mock trial before a
visiting group of 4-H clubbers
this afternoon at the Lane county
court house at which Dean
Wayne L. Morse will preside as
judge and a jury of 4-H members
will bring in the verdict.
Orlando Hollis, professor of
law, devised the case, a suit for
an alleged injury received in a
softball game when the defendant
threw a bat that struck the plain
tiff.
Future barristers who will take
part in the moot case are: plain
tiff, Hugh Collins: defendant,
Jack Dunn; attorneys for the
plaintiff, Brock Miller, Floyd
Hamilton; attorneys for the de
fendant, Bob Recken, Don Rich
ardson; witness for the plaintiff,
William Robert; witness for the
defendant, Clyde Angerman;
clerk, Jack Hay; bailiff, David
Rementeria.
Dinah Shore, network vocalist,
is a graduate of Vanderbilt uni
versity.
