    Clothes Better Than Line
Fine Feathers Outdo
Personality’s Charm
By BUCK BUCHWACII
They tell you, that is the pro
fessors do, that the way to a wo
man’s heart is via a delightful per
sonality of your own.
Now it ain’t proper to argue with
educators right before final ex
ams if one hopes to hide his ig
norance, but it’s the well-dressed,
handsome young Esquire who gets
all the ferns on this here campus,
in case the professors really get
right down to cases.
Case One
Take Betty, and she was a case
No. 1. She was beautiful, intelli
gent, and could toss the guff with
the best of them. Did she choose
for her dream man a Phi Bete?
Not for her dough . . . Did she go
for a “He's not so hot looking and
doesn’t dress too well, but omigosh
what a personality” deal ? Quit
your kidding.
She grabs herself off a fresh
man.
He spells cat with a "k.”
He adds two and two together
and gets somewhere in the neigh
borhood of six or seven.
He uses his hands to eat with
instead of those funny-looking
metal things with prongs on them,
High Style
But ... he smells like he just
stepped out of a tub of bath salts
and forgot to dry off ... he makes
the pictures in Esquire blush with
mortification when he stares at
them, dressed like sin . . . and he
walks with the debonair stride ot
a campus Chevalier . . . whatever

that means.
That’s why he nails the gals,
Mr. Professors.
So, to give the males on this here
kampus a break, so they can come
back spring term and really make
the most of their opportunities -
scholastically and socially - here’s
the consensus, gathered after an
extensive survey of campus coeds.
Affirmation
Both of them were emphatic
about their opinions.
First, when you start in dressing
to go with some frail who parks
her chassis in one of the best
houses on the campus—the one
that did get above a 2-point GPA
—begin from the bottom.
Wear shoes, even if you hail
fro mTigard, Lakeview, or Port
land. Your feet will hurt when
you first put them on, but you'll
get used to them by degrees if
you put your sole into it.
Sox Help
If it’s just a coke date you don’t
have to change sox; but if you
really want to make an impression
put on a new pair even if the
month isn’t up, and you’ll be sur
prised how much difference it
makes. You may even get another
date, especially if your old man
happen to own a small bank or
part of the U.S. treasury depart
ment.
There was going to be special
instructions about shirts, ties, hats,
and the rest of the junk a guy has
to throw on just to meet some
little deal, but they got this space
allotted to guys what want to sell
some clothes.
Anyway, if you take the previous
advice, you should get along mar
velously.

Dix, by the way . . .

Around the campus again we’ll

comfortable and popular to wear

Shirts, according to style ex
perts, will be more specialized than
ever before, because of the recent
trend of young men to be more
conscious of the neckline. Some 22
different collar patterns are for
you to to select from. Popular this
year are shirts with conservative
stripes, or plain ribbed styles. Two
way collars have been introduced
by several manufacturers for
either dress or sports, according to
the occasion.
For shoes, saddles will again be
the popular campus shoe with the
Norwegian moccasin a close run
ner-up. As for dress the same tan
shoe of smooth surface will be
popular. Woolen socks and ties will
be appropriate. Ties will be of
various stripes and dots to fit the
occasion.
* Hats
Every type of cloth is being
used for hats—corduroys, canvas,
felt and what have you. Just so
your hat has a feather from some
poor innocent bird you will be
properly headed.
Sleeveless and low “V” sweaters
of various weaves and materials
will be worn as usual.
Extra-Particular Activities
FOR skilful maneuvering on and off the dance

What would be more delightful than to walk down the street and
have Burt Thierolf tip that brown felt hat with hat band of contrast

with a sleeveless barrel-roll-knit sweater and brown and white sad

cashmere sweater.
“T” shirts may be found on any

lot of money. Well, try this: Come on down to
Wards. Slip into a Darien suit. Notice how well
the coat fits. How it broadens your shoulders,
slims your waist. See how full cut and comfort
