Freshmen to Apply
Annual 'O'Paint Job
The class of '43, fired by the
exhortations of its president, Les
Anderson, at the campus lunch
eon yesterday, will be preparing
the final chapter of its first
school year at 8:15 this morning.
At that time the Order of the
“O” will escort them to Skinner's
butte for the painting of the huge
Oregon “O.”
All freshmen are expected to
be at Villard hall at 8:15.
Obstacle Seen
Generally speaking, freshmen
become sophomores this week
end, but, according to reports,
they will leave a bloody trail be
hind them. The sophomores,
boasting an undefeated record,
will place a serious obstacle in
the way of a frosh victory. Soph
omore Class President Bob Calk
ins promised.
Dunking at 10
All member of the two under
classes have been asked to be at
the millrace, near Villard hall,
when two squads of 18 men each
will meet at 10 o’clock. In the en
suing “affair of dishonor” one
side will get wet. If previous
years’ results are an indication,
the sophomores will get the dous
ing, Don Turner of the traditions
committee commented. Concen
trated combat will then evolve
into guerilla warfare, with scat
tered bands of raiders dashing off
to the millrace with doomed cap
tives.
Led by Ralph Lafferty, Older
of the “O” lifesavers will keep a
watchful eye on the skirmishers
to make sure that no blitzkriegs
are carried too far.

Union Display Open
For Visiting Moms
Student union disp’ay material

visiting parents today from 1 un

frosh union committee chairman,
announced yesterday. The dis
play is located in the Student
Union room, lower floor of John
son hall.
“The display will be of espe

that they may see how student
activities are centralized in other
colleges,” Williams said.
Plans, drawings, and illustra
tions from the union buildings of
several major universities are in
cluded in the exhibit. Future
campus expansion is graphically
depicted in a drawing by F. A.
Cuthbert, associate professor of
landscape architecture.
The drawing shows the loca
tion where the Oregon Dads’
wrought-iron gates will be erect
ed and the proposed mall extend
ing from the entrance to the li

ing’s financial set-up and approx
