Ex Comm Will Consider Trip For Union Group Election Dates, 1940-41 Fee to Be Discussed When the ASUO eecutive com mittee digs down into its bag of “bills” labeled “must” during the initial meeting of its last term in office, it will fish out one concern ing the possibility of a student union committee trip to Idaho, in addition to ones on nominating dates for ASUO elections and next year’s student body membership fee, it was announced. The student union trip is a horse of a different color than the others to be “ridden.” It boils down to is simply a proposition to take six more students from the two stu dent union buildings at Idaho, tak ing the money from the ASUO president’s travel budget. Only mileage expenses would be allowed the group. ASUO Fee Included? As to the student body fee for next year, with the end of its ten ure in sight, the present commit tee will have to make up its mind pretty soon whether a $2 required fee each term, the $2 to be levied next year as a state board activ ity fee, should include membership in the student body. Oregon State college, under the same system, is inclined to favor the idea, and there is plenty of administration support here. The executive committee will probably do no more than talk about the question at this meeting, but the ground work will undoubt edly be laid for future action, even should that include a different plan to determine the status of student body membership. The question is the most difficult one to come before an executive com mittee since the abandonment of the compulsory fee several years ago. Other Problems Up But there will be other matters on the docket. Verdi Sederstrom, first vice-president of the ASUO, will bring in a report of his work of bringing the ASUO constitution up to date, and may suggest an immediate reprinting of constitu tional handbooks. This leads to ac tion on the part of those who were to work out new class constitu tions, and from whom nothing but deep silence has been heard to date.
