For days and weeks this humble correspondent has avoided prog nosticating football games because ho thought it would bore the pub lic. But students and professors have asked for it, and even the campus dogs cast a questionable glance. So Duck Tracks herewith throws in the towel. It’ll be 13 to 7 for Oregon. Why? Because when tough football teams meet, breaks are apt to settle it. And Oregon was unlucky against Stanford and Fordham. Since 1915, the Ducks haven’t even smelled a break against the Trojans. Just figure that an Oliver of fense shouldn’t be blanked two consecutive Saturdays. It's the spot for an upset. California and Oregon State at Berkeley ? The powerful Golden Bears are improving rapidly, and on their home lot should emulate a steam roller. Say California 20, Oregon State 0. UCLA and Stanford at Los An geles ? Stanford’s offense isn't too po tent. Bill Spaulding’s Bruins will push over two touchdowns and kick a conversion, 13 to 0. Washington State and Gonzaga at Spokane? Babe Hollingbcry is fighting a four-year Bulldog jinx, having lost two and tie one in the last three Gonzaga games, but WSC will win in a photo finish, 7 to 6. Santa Clara's independent Bron cos, unbeaten for two years, will find Michigan State a not quite tough enough at East Lansing, tri umphing, 26 to 6, to stay in the nation’s top ten. *' ! ~....— " —1 .. John Warren, Duckling mentor, will take 28 freshmen on the trip north. Eight gridders on the frosh squad will have a chance to play on their home state sail. Warren named the following traveling squad last night: Ends, Hyman Harris, Bill Regncr, Pat Smith, James Stevenson, Walt Lid strom; tackles, Arnold Achescn, Bernie McCudden, Jack Bromley. Monte Klepper, Edward Moshofsky, Len Surles; guards, Bob Beckner, Bob Davis, Jack Massie, Ray Se gale; centers, Elliott Wilson, Les ter Thompson; backs, Roy Dyer, Doug Caven, Bill Brenner, Bill Jensen, Steve Fowler, Dominic Giovanini, Don Clickard, Laverne Van Mater, Burl Courtney, and Bob Tyrell. Culwell Out Val Culwell, will be out of uni form for the rest of the season. He has been suffering from a stomach disorder and the doctors will not let him play until he has completely recovered. Dominic Giovanini and Steve Fowler will fight it out as usual for the starting quarterback berth. Every game so far this season it has been a toss up as to the start er between these two very capable backs. Bill Jensen, 200-pounder from Seattle, has been shifted back to his old position at right half. Jen sen was shifted to blocking back earlier this week. Warren stated last r|:ght that one of his toughest problems in picking the starting eleven was the left‘tackle berth. He has three men who are comparatively equal. Arnold Atcheson, local Springfield star, Len Surles, ex-Bend high tackle, and Ed Moshofsky, big tac Ducks-TrojansPlay FirstNorthemFray Saturday will mark Southern California's first appearance at Multnomah stadium, Portland, against a University of Oregon team. In the past all games between the two schools have been played in Los Angeles. Oregon has come out the loser on all but one occa sion. Up to last year's tilt, the Web foots had been held scoreless in six consecutive games. The sensation al offensive work of Troy’s Amby Schindler was largely responsible for Oregon's defeat in that con test. The scores of past games be tween the two teams is as fol lows: Year UO USC 1915 .. 34 0 1920 . 0 21 1931 . 0 53 1932 . 0 33 1933 . 0 26 1934 . 0 33 1936 . 0 26 1937 . 14 34 ... 48 Total . 226 kle from Beaverton, are probable starters at the position. Dyer on Shelf Roy Dyer, regular starting left half, has been in the infirmary the last few days suffering from the flu, but is expected to be in the lineup this Saturday. Ed Moshofsky, who must have strayed from Jim Crowley’s Ford ham’ Rams by the sound of his name, has been showing up good in practice lately and may get the starting nod at left tackle. The Washington Babes played Ellensburg normal to a 6 to 6 tie, and a week later lost to a Belling ham normal eleven, 6 to 0. Bel lingham won over Monmouth nor mal, 19 to 6, and Monmouth trounced the Southern Oregon nor mal by the same score. The Uni versity of Oregon frosh walked over the SONS, 26 to 13.
