Exhibit Songmen in
'Sunken Gardens'
Deep men’s voices will blend in
Oregon songs and popular swing
stuff tonight in the open air thea
ter back of the music building
when the best group of singers
among men’s living organizations
on the campus will be chosen.
Sigma Chi, Delta Tau Delta,
Theta Chi, and Sigma Alpha Epsi
lon will compete at 6:15 tonight for
the loving cup offered by Phi Mu
Alpha in the contest.
The four fraternities were chosen

Eastern Oregon Sites
Will Be Surveyed by
Five Students
Investigating sites of anthropo
logical interest, a group of Univer
sity men will make an expedition
to the eastern part of Oregon in
early June.
Areas east of the Cascade moun
tains, along the Columbia river,
and near the towns of Heppner and
Antelope, will be checked in con
nection with the work being done
at Catlow caves in southeastern
Oregon, with the purpose of mak
ing a general reconaissance of the
region.
The group will leave on about
June 4 and return on approximate
ly June 20.
Those making the trip are Robin
Drews, Alex Krieger, Carl Huffa
ker, Jerry Lance, and Fred Voget.

competition, ending- last week.
Judges will be: George Hopkins,
professor of piano; E. S. Tuttle,
University paymaster, and George
McMorran, Eugene businessman.
The competition will last about
three-quarters of an hour, and is
free of charge. All interested are
invited to attend.
RETAIL SCHOLARSHIPS GIVEN
Eight students received retail
scholarships to eastern schools.
They are: Carol F. Gates, Gordon
Palmer, Beryl Cornish, John En
ders, Kermit A. Gimre, Vivian
Runte, Lawrence R. .Wales and Wil
bur Webb.
