In the second quarter, Cunningham, Lash, and Bright cut loose to pass the Oregonians and finish in that order—but Bill Hayward’s boys can say “You can't take that away from me.” Robinson and Fitchard copped first and second in the broad jump, and Varoff tied for second in the pole vault. Robinson jumped 24 feet one inch to win, but Varoff failed by a shade to soar over 14 feet, and lost to Earle Meadows. Extension Members At Portland Dinner The office staff of the extension division of the University of Ore gon attended a dinner in Portland Saturday night. Members of the radio and visual instruction staff from Corvallis and the staff of the central office in Portland were other representatives at the dinner. Dean Alfred Powers, dean of the extension division, spoke on prob lems in extension work and discus sed the summer session to be held this year. ment; Memorial day—holiday. UO Art Grad Leaves For Eastern Study Jack Wilkinson, former Oregon art student, left last Saturday as a recipient of the Phellan scholar ship to study at the art galleries in Chicago, Washington and oth er cities. Wilkinson received the award two years ago for the oil, “Circus Fakir,” which was placed in the 58th San Francisco art associa tion annual. More of his work is inclu/ded in the second annual student exhibition 'now touring | Washington and which will be shown at the University soon. Two of his paintings were recent ly purchased by Albert Bender, San Francisco art patron. The scholarship provides $2000 and two years of study in Europe. After studying in the East, Wil kinson will sail for Europe. He will visit galleries in several Eu ropean cities including Russels and Rotterdam. Following study in these art galleries, he will spend a year in Paris and conclude with a year in Italy. Although the scholarship was awarded almost a year ago, Wil kinson could not leave until now as he was assisting Maurice Sterne on a federal art project in the department of justice. Erbs to Be Guests At Faculty Dinner Dr. and Mrs. Erb will be guests of honor at a formal faculty din ner to be given by Alpha Delta Pi tonight.
