Of this number 214 are from Portland, while 104 claim Eugene as their home town. The remainder are di v i d e d between towns of Oregon and those out-of state and m tor eign countries. This number is nearly 50 greater Pallett than the number receiving degrees at the com mencement last year, which was 528. However, it is pointed out that some of the candidates on the list may not receive their diplomas at this time, as many of them still have requirements to complete. The list is merely tentative. Commencement exercises will be held June 13 to 15. This list of candidates follows: PORTLAND Bachelor of arts—Janet Goodman Alexan der, Horace Hows Allen. Our Now Style Drapes represent the recent treud towards more vivid colors, lovely designs, and smaller patterns. Draperies soon lose their brightness and distinction, making it necessary to replace them quite frequently. Old chairs and davenports can be re-upholstered to look like new, and the summer months offer an ideal time to have such repairs taken care of. Hush week can be doubly successful with a fresh and lovely furnished house. Powers Furniture Co. BEARD’S Sincerely thank patrons and sponsors of the Emerald for any and all consideration shown them and extend very best wishes for the success and welfare of all con cerned. It has been a pleasure as well as a great privilege to have been listed among the friends of the students, and to have con tributed, even though in a small way, to the official publication, which is largely the “heart beat” of the Campus. We invite any, who may be returning, to drop in and see us—a warm welcome al ways awaits the student. To those not returning, we extend our most sincere wishes. May all conditions be kind to you. */ BEARD’S Pearl M. Niskanen, Allan R. Which he was. Reginald Cog geshall, professor of journalism, spun around, uttered a half listless sigh and then laughed. “That’s what I get for being a University professor when I’m try ing to get to Paris.” Conferences, loquatious students, a desk piled high with late papers, and people phoning to wish “bon voyage.” Such are the things with which one has to contend in pre paring for an ocean trip as evi denced by the bustle of last minute preparations in Coggeshall's office yesterday. But it is all worth it for the reward of planting one's feet on the home-like soil of France. That is the assertion of Mr. Coggeshall, who was working on the Paris New York World prior to coming to the University. “Is Paris home to you?” He answered rather hesitatingly, but his eyes fairly gleamed at the mention of the city. "As much as anywhere. Why? I guess because I have lived there. Am I French? No, I’m an Ameri can. Here's my passport.” Coggeshall, who will sail on the Padilla, Nicholas Nicholas, B.S.; Buena ventura Reyes Santiago, Nicholas Costosa, B.A. Orangeville, Idaho—Nadine G i 1 k e s o u, B.A. Melba, Idaho — Robert Dawson Knox, B.S.
