House Track Is Tomorrow Thirteen Events Will See Sixteen Fraternities Ready to Start Sixteen organizations have signi fied their intentions of entering men in the intra-mural track meet which will he staged on Hayward field tomorrow at 1:30 o’clock. This will ho a regular full-sized affair with thirteen events on the sched ule. No cup will he given to the winner of the fracas, as in the hig tournament of last term. Duo to the great amount of rain fall in the past few weeks the track men have heen unable to get much competitive work, William L. Hay ward, coach, stated yesterday. The meet Saturday will give the men some of the much-needed competi tion while giving the coach a chance to look over possible candidates for positions on the squad which are open due to illness and ineligibility of the regular players, Hayward pointed out. Crowley Places High in Golf Tilt Stanford Man Takes First Place in Contest SAN FRANCISCO, Cal., April 19. — (Special)—A terrible wind caused high scores for fourteen golfers rep resenting seven schools at the Pa cific coast intercollegiate 54-hole medal tournament on the Oceanside course of the Olympic club hero to day. Ed Crowley, Webfoot divot dig ger, finished today’s play of 18 holes in fourth place. He. was three strokes ahead of Meyberg, Stanford captain, and one stroke behind Chuck Hunter, Washington’s star performer, both favorites to win high honors. Ditzlcr, California, led the field with a 78. Conners, U. S. C.. was next with 80; Hunter, Wash ington, 82; Crowley, Oregon, 83; Turner, U. S. C., 84; Meyberg, Stan ford, 86; and Devlin, Stanford, 87. Crowley was playing a fine game when the wind blew his ball into a sand trap and it took him two sevens on. easy par four holes to get in the running again. It was this stroke of hard luck that cost Crowley medal honors. In the combined team scores, Cali fornia leads. Oregon, Stanford, and Washington arc all bunched for sec ond place; with two strokes apart. The remaining 36 holes of the tour nament will be played on the Lake side course of the Olympic club to morrow. Giffen’s score today was not in the scoring. COLLEGIATES! The game stood nothing all | at the end of the first half, but Fletcher, stellar Phi Dolt forward, got his shooting eye at the begin : ning of the second period and scored three gonls for his team. The Independents came near tying the score in the last seconds of the game when Smith shot a long one that missed oidy by inches. Smith scored one goal and Kirkham the other for the Independents. . The Delts and Phi Sigh were scheduled to play a make-up game, but two of the Phi Sig string were in the infirmary, so the game was given to the Delts by default.
