To Webfoots Monday
On Hickman Trial
Gordon S. Wells, deputy district
attorney -of Lane county and pro
fessor of criminal law, will speak
on “The Ilickman Trial” at the
iirst meeting of the Wcbfoot club
this term. The meeting will be in
the form of a dinner next Monday
evening at 6 o’clock. All members

High School Athletics”; and Mer
rill Stoddard, of Baker, will speak
on “Musical Activities as Student
Body Function^.”
One of the high lights of the con
ference will be the address by Wil
liam .1. Cooper, California State
Superintendent of schools, to the stu
dent body officers at 1:30 o’clock
today, il is address will be on “Real
Values.” Mr. Cooper is also sched
uled to speak at assembly this morn
ing.
Students to Speak.
Among the student officers who
will speak during the afternoon are
Clifford Moore, of Medford High,
who will talk on “Methods of Ob
taining Town Support for High
School Activities”; and Amos Law
rence, of Grant High in Portland,
who will speak on “Honor System
under Student Body Control.”
The press conference will break
tip into four divisions for conference
this afternoon. The first division,
editors of high school annuals, will
be in charge of Mary Clay Benton,
editor of the 1928 Oregano. This
section trill be addressed by Erne9t
Ellis, of Kennell-Ellis Portrait Stu
dios; Abbot Lawrence, assistant art
editor of the Oregana; and by repre
sentatives of printing and engrav
ing companies.
Advertisers Give Luncheon
The first feature of the division
which includes managers of high
school annuals and newspapers, will
be the noon luncheon to be given
today by Alpha Delta Sigma, nation
al advertising fraternity. W. F. G.
Thaeher, professor of advertising,
will speak at 1:50 o’clock on “Make
up of Advertisements.” Another fea
ture of this section will be the talk
at 2:20 bv Walter W. R. May of
the Oregonian, who will talk on
“Sources of Advertisements.”
The section of editors of high
school newspapers will bo addressed
by George Turnbull, professor of
.journalism, on “Newspaper Tech
nique.” This section is to. be pre
sided over by Ray Nash, editor of
the Oregon Emerald.

school papers will be presided over
