Phi Delta Theta
Play Fast Game
In Donut Series
Third Round Will Begin
First of Week; ATO
Dropped
The Sigma Chi horizon wan full
of arms, legs and Phi Celts and
when the scorekeeper counted tho
damage at the end of yesterday’s
donut basketball game the count
read Phi Delta Theta 24, Sigma Chi
e.
When the winner’s steam roller
got in motion the opposition’s roll
er turned out to be little more than
a scooter.
The Phi Delta’s showed tho tight
est defense displayed so far in the
tourney. The open shots that Sig
ma Chi got were few and far fetch
ed. Once their enemy’s forward
wall weakened temporarily but tho
Sigma Chi boys wero so shocked
they couldn’t make a basket.
Cheshire starred on tho defense
for Phi Delta Theta and Bill Bak
er and Johnny Walkor each amass
ed threo field goals and a foul throw.
Bill Sorsby, Sigma Chi’s fidgety
guard, was about the only offender
to soil tho basket for the underdogs.
Bill, aided and abetted by his mates,
dropped in two goals and his teams
other two points were made when
McAllister connected with a heave
from the floor.
Phi Kappa Psi and Alpha Tau
Omega got in a little muss in which
the former emerged victorious 21-15.
The battle was featured by the
closo checking on both sidos at
times and at other times not so
elose. The defeat eliminated Alpha
Tau Omega from tho running and
put the Phi Psi quintet a step near
er the consolation title.
Mem who crashed the six-foot
mark were at premium. Two of the
ATO benedicts were well over the
line and by shoving Bob Foster and
Frank Hallin, Phi Psi managed to
put on a Behemoth Bevue of their
own to offset tho advantage in
height maintained by Jordan and
McCulloch for their opponents.
Bob Foster, tho erstwhile sopho
more president, covered himself with
glory by leading tho scoring with
seven points. Elkins, his team
mate, crowded him with six points
and McCulloch of the ATO's also
collected six markers.
Fred West was the mainspring of
Jk,
the Phi Psi offensive p.-/ but did
not figure in the scoring.
These games end the second round
of the donut basketball series and
beginning Monday, the third Tound
starts with only one game to be
played on Mondays, Wednesdays
and Fridays, this at 4:00, so that
the varsity basketball team can use
the floor.

Trojans remember this well and re

Oregon will run up against a Bear
who is fighting mad, lusting for re
venge and victory. Coach John J.
McEwan has trained a smooth func
tioning football machine, one that
knows the game well; Coach “Nibs”
Price together with tho great Cali

his team to fighting pitch.
Last Saturday three quarterbacks
wearing the Bluo and Gold were in
the game at the same time. Blewett
called signals, and Clymer punted
an average of 41 yards during the
afternoon. Breckenridge played
half and carried the ball. The line
has two fighting and shifty ends in
Steve Bancroft and Irv Phillips.
Beady to take their places if they

Boy Niswander and Johnny Sargent

Attention
House Managers!
Rainy weather, means muddy foot-prints in the hall
ways and up the stairs, these will call to mind some
thing to eliminate the dirt. Of course a Door Mat
gets kicked around a lot, but it does help to keep the
mud outside where it belongs.
