VJtnsrn WATER TEAM TO MEET AGGIES HERE First Water Polo Contest to Feature Meet Campus sports followers will liavc their first opportunity to see Oregon’s 1926 swimming team in action next Saturday when the Lemon-Yellow mermen vie with a representative troupe from O. A. C. at 2:20 in the Woman’s building tank. The meet will be over by 4:00 o’clock, in order to give fans and participants a chance to see the basketball game at Corvallis that evening. An added attraction will be the •water polo contest—the first com petition of this kind ever to be seen on the Oregon campus. It is expected that this sport will take spectators by storm, for it is the roughest kind of activity, featuring whirlwind tackling, immersing, and skillful play. It greatly resembles ice hockey, but is even rougher and more furious. The crack freshman team which bowled over the Portland Y. M. C. A. finmen by a 38 to 12 count will compose one side, with the other made up of varsity swimmers who will participate in only one or two events, such as A1 Sinclair, Bob Gardner, Jack Hering, and Curtis Ilambo. The frosh have an excel lent chance to topple tfce upper classment. Just who will represent Oregon in the swimming meet is undecided, as the tryouts are not to be held until later in the week. The cali ber of Coach Abercrombie’s team is uncertain, as several veterans have been lost. A return meet will be staged in Corvallis March 6th.
