SWIMMERS WORKOUT
FOR COMING SEASON
Several Lettermen Insure
Powerful Team
Varsity and freshman swimmers
are now working out three times a
week in preparation for the com
ing aquatic season which will start
next term.
The two squads, thus far, have
not worked out in the tank. All
work is being done on the tumbling
mat, with the medicine ball. The
preliminary work in general con
sists of all kinds of calisthenics.
Coach Abercrombie intends to
start the men training in the tank
next Wednesday.
Prospects ff/r (a winning tdam
look fairly bright. Several letter
men are now out and a number of
good men from last year’s yearling
team are showing up good. Art
Erickson, back stroke swimmer,
will not be out this year. Another
loss to the varsity is the absence
of Ben Lombard. There is some
chances, however, that ho may be
in school next term. Don Parks,
who coached the freshman team
two years ago, is to be first assist
ant to Abercrombie and will also
have charge of the first year men’s
team.
The men now signed up for var
sity diving are: Byerly, Epping-,
McCabe, letterman, Koupal and
Perry Davis, who has signified his
intentions. Varsity swimmers will
include: Boggs, Gardner, McCook,
Boucher, McGregor, Woodworth,
Sheridan and Wright. Plungers
are: Mason and Van Atta. Likely
candidates for the fresman team
are: Finley, free style swimmor,
Kier, back stroke, Fletcher, breast
stroke, and Nooc, diving.
STUDENT DESCRIBES
ART STUDIES IN EAST
Miss Kate Schaefer, who last
year was an instructor in sculpture
in the University are department,
is now studying art in tho East.
Miss Schaefer left for Now York
in October, and upon her arrival
entered tho Art Student’s League.
Through her unusually fine work
Miss Schaefer was admitted to a
life and anatomy class under
Bridigcman. This is (considered
quite an honor since all classes con
ducted by this famous artist are
limited, and only accessable after
an examination. Miss Schaefer is
also taking color from DuMond,
and modeling from Lentelli.
Miss Schaefer declares that she
is enjoying her work very much.
She has been spending much of her
time studying exhibits of art, and
declares she is virtually revelling
in art. She intends to be in the
East for a year.
Following her arrival in New
York she made her home with her
brother, in East Orange but has re
cently moved into New York and
I is now living near her studio.
