The play was chosen in preference to a Shakespearean production which had been tentatively selected earlier in the season. In the part of Mary Disraeli, wife of Lord Beaconsfield, Dorothy Wootton will take the role of leading lady. Irene Stew art, NorveM Thompson, Charlotte Ban field and Martha Rice will portray prom inent characters in the play. The story of Disraeli, one of Eng land’s greatest statesmen, with the in trigue connected with England’s acquisi tion of the Suez Canal is depicted in the play. A romance connected with Lord Deeford and Lady Perensy. played by Norvell Thompson and Irene Stewart, re spectively. runs through the story and i culminates with the successful return of Lord Deeford from Cairo where he had been sent as a representative of Disraeli' to purchase the*canal. The keynote ot the whole play is the strength of the one leading character, Disraeli. Continually being confronted with political and social handicaps, lie eventually overcomes all resistance to his plan of acquiring the canal shares from the Sultan of Turkey. Last year Mr. Reddie took the title role in Clyde Fitch’s “Beau Brummel,” another historical play with a striking lead. Members of the cast as they will ap pear are: Butler .
