planned. Coach George M. Bohler, who
is ir, (large of doughnut athletics, was
responsible for the doughnut basketball
season played last fall and winter, which
was such an unprecedented success from
the Standpoint of intramural athletics,
and had planned a similar season for
doughnut baseball.
Four diamonds for the exclusive use
of doughnut tnsrbgll were laid out, but
that is about os far as the work ever
got, so Coach i,oliler deems it inadvis
able to wait longer on the completion of
the fields and will lay his plans for an
elimination s'-ncs. It is planned to play
two or three paints a week, with varsity
practice shortened cn the nights of the
. games, which will probably start at 5
o’clock. It is expected that all men’s
houses will enter teams in the race for
the championship.
Kappa Slgs Won Cup Last Yoar.
Lett year the cup was won by the
Kappa Sigs, who slugged their way to
fame behind the pitching of “Tiny”
Shields. Incidentally, the Kappa Sigs
will bt hard to beat this year. They have
a dependable battery in Shields and Earl
m.d, taken all around, a pretty well bal
anced nine. The Weonas, who placed
second last year and fought it out with
the champs in the finals, are not enter
ing o team this year, as they lost the
majority of their men by graduation.
Sigma Chi looms up ns a force in de
termining the new cup holders, ns they
had t strong team last year and have
some excellent material with which to
fill up the holes made by men leaving
school.
Air-Tight Battles Expected.
Practically all of the houses have a
few ball players whom the boys expect
to bring home the bacon, and though ns
yet most of them don’t, know just exact
ly what they have rounded up in the way
of tossers, it is safe to say flint there
will be some good teams placed in the
running and some air-tight bottles fought
before the cup is filially won.
Eligibility rules will be much the same
this year as last, men on the varsity
squad and former ■baseball letter men
will not be allowed to play. In all prob
ability, men oil the yearling nine will be
declared ineligible also. As opposed to
doughnut track, however, men on proba
tion will be allowed to participate in the
series.

Novel Canvassing System Worked Out
to Get Every Commerce
Major to Join.
An intensive membership drive for the
Chamber of Commerce of the school of
business administration js being car
ried on this week with the intention of
gahrng 100 per cent membership for the
organization. Carl Myers and Mildred
Aumiller are in charge of the campaign.
A novel canvassing system has been
worked oht whereby several committees
will carry out the work instead of having
one group in charge for any length of
time. As soon as the members of the
first committee appointed obtain their
p.iota of five members each, another
group is appointed; this plan to be car
ried on until the desired goal is reached.
A record is to he kept of those who
refuse to become members of the organi
zation and their case will later be re
ferred to a committee of salesmanship
experts who will again attempt to in
veigle them into joining the chamber.
The first membership committee ap
pointed consists of Wilbur Hoyt, Mar
garet Beattie, Ray Harlan) Horace Wes
terfield, Albert Niemi and William Purdy.
INGRAM CALLED TO PORTLAND.
Joe Tngram, a senior in the school of
commerce and member of the I'hi Delta
Theta fraternity, was called to Portland
Monday on account, of the death of his
brother’s two-year-old child. He was
expected tp return last night or this
morning.
KANSAS GAME VETOED
Varsity Will Not Play at Stadium Dedi
cation.
The invitation sent to the University
of Oregon by the University of Kansas
to send the football team east nest fall
to play the opening game in the new
stadium there was declined yesterday.
The athletic council felt that the games
next fall necessitated too many trips to
allow this extra journey.
The offer of the game came through
Dean John W. Landshury, of the school
of music, who was a classmate of T)r.
Forrest Allen, of the University of Kan
sas. The conversation regarding the
game took place while Dr. Landsbur.v1
was east on a concert tour recently, and
the invitation was the result of the talk.

football has been well answered. 43 men
being now at work under Coach Welch.
Besides this, there are many that are
out for baseball and track. Most of the
material is for the line, with many of
them from last fall’s frosh squad. Coach
Welch feels that spring training will
be a success and says that the material
that lie has to mould next year’s squadr
from is equal to that of any school in
the west

Dr. Karl M. Dallenbaeh, formerly in
the Department of Psychology of the
University of Oregon, is now at Cornell
University, where he is business editor
of the “American Journal of Psychology.”
