report was a specimen of Azolla caio
liniana sent here recently by Miss Mary
(' Van Wert, instructor in botany at
Albany college, who found it in the mill
pond at Albany. Miss Ethel Sanborn,
assistant in botany, who made the in
vestigation, identified the specimen and
more the report to Miss Van Wert.
The Azolla earoliniana, is a water fern
found very rarely. Its stems which are
so slender as to be practically invisible
to the eye, are covered with leaves of
pale green to deep red in color. Usual
ly found in connection with this is a
oamall algae growing in the axels of the
liaves.
