The third Officers’ Training camp nt
the T'nivorsity of Oregon opened this
morning under Commandant Lieut. Co!.
John Leader, late of the 10th Itoyal Irish
Rifles.
This is the largest ramp yet held nt
tlm University, .”>00 applications having
been received. At the fiist camp held
*arly in the summer there were 160 men
and at the second, 260 men. The men
in the camp have been quartered in four
houses, the Sigma Nu and Beta Theta
1’i houses holding 50; Alpha Tau Omega,
45. The town Y. M. C. A. will accommo
date the remainder, probably about 170.

SCHOLARSHIP BEGGING
No Applicants Appear in Oregon for
Rhodes Examination.
Xot a single applicant for ;he annual
Cecil Rhodes scholarship in Oxford Uni
versity, England, has appeared In the
date *£ Oregon this year, tcoor-diog to
announcement made today at the office
of the president of the University of
Oregon.
This is the first time since the Rhodes
scholarships were established that there
has not been at least one applicant for
examination. Last year five persons ap«
plied.
Matriculation of the Rhodes scholarf
has been postponed until after the war,
but it has been ruled that any applicant!
who pass the examination will be eligible
for enrollment at that time even if in
the meantime he has passed the age limit
of 25 years.
