Student Activities
Be1n Theta Pi entertained informally
on Friday evening with a dancing party
at the chapter house. The patrons and
patronesses for the affair were Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Pratt, Dr. and Mrs. Timothy
Cloran, Professor and Mrs. Frederick
Young, and Dean Elizabeth Fox. The
house was attractively decorated with
greens and cut flowers. The guest list
included Mary Murdock, Marguerite
'Gross, Cleome Carroll, Marion Grebel,
Leura Jerard, Margaret Rogers, Jose

Mrs. Joseph Moss spent Teusday and
Wednesday with her daughter, Jeannette,
at the Kappa Kappa Gamma house.
Gary Howard left on Wednesday for
Salem, Oregon. Miss Howard, who is a
Kappa Alpha Theta pledge, will leave
soon for her home in Aberdeen, Mis
sissippi. She made many friends during
her stay at the University.

Coach Dyment Issues Ultima

Against Multnomah.
The early snowfall Tuesday prevented
the soccer squad from getting the prac
tice, which according to Coach Dyment,
is absolutely necessary if the percent
age column is to be kept free from de
feats. The coach was none too pleased
with the varsity’s exhibition against
Multnomah. The clubmen were on the
offensive practically all the time, parti
cularly toward the end of the game. If
the halves were 15 minutes in length the
locals might do some rushing themselves
hut 35 minutes wears the boys out. To
get them into condition to play a game
at. top speed all the way is the intention
of the coming practices.
Herb Heywood’s place at center half
will probably be filled by Hinson, al
though it depends on how the other can
didates show up the next two weeks.
This is the most important position on
the team and requires a player who
knows the game thoroughly. Hinson is
a newcomer this year and has a lot to
learn.
The rest of the team will line up as
usual. The last two games have develop
ed more team play than wns evident in
the opening game against O. A. C. and
the passing and dribbling has become
more sure. Jimmy Sheehy and Nelson
between them have shot all the goals
scored in the three games so far, Sheehy
booting four and Nelson putting two
through the posts.
Soccer apparently has gained a strong
foothold in thq interest of the stu
dents this year. The short season and
early schedule of games has found favor
with the players and more have come out
than in any previous year.
