A MODEST REQUEST
V Whatever there is to be said pro

amendments, the Emerald maintains
that there is one question coming be
fore the students tomorrow to whiph
;there is but one side—that of award
ing gold “O" pins to the upperclasfs
members of the Women’s Glee Club.0
At the beginning of each year the
co-ed must disentangle herself frotn
the required eight talents. Her “qnte"’
is just the same as a man’s, bqt Vyhat
does she realize on her investment?*
She is privileged to sit in |he- gal

the male sirerts— and onlyo for the up

meads that the Stuifbht Body will be
set back'the cosj of only eight or ten
inexpensive” pins each year.
Under these circumstances, the Em
erald w’ould like to see not only a
favorable vote, but a unanimous ap
proval of the amendment. This is
not a suffragette movement—it is
merely a plea for the “square deal.”

* COMMUNICATION *
• •
***********
To the Editor:
As a member of the Junior class, I
wish to correct an impression which
i was voiced in your editorial of last
Friday concerning the iroposition to
ask Student Body support for the Or
egana. I do not believe that the Jun
ior class, as a whole, is in favor of
this action. At any rate, I know that
there are a number of Juniors who do
not agree that we should beg the Stu
dent Body for support.
The proposition was put through by
Q few members of the class who ex
aggerated the financial risks involved.
I am one who believes that the Jun
iors ought to take care of the Ore
gana, and I shall vote accordingly to
morrow. I know there are others
wfio will do likewise.
The fact that the committee of rep
resentative students appointed by the
•Student Council to investigate this
matter impartially voted 10 to 3 in
favor of recommending that the
amendment be turned down, and that
six out of the ten had previously
•v.oted to grant the money, convinces
.me .that the advocates of the amend
ment have no real valid arguments.
. I write “thjp communication merely
to "show that there are Juniors who
aVe willing to bear their responsibil
ity without shirking.
