The building contains five large rooms and several offices and laboratories. The drafting and drawing rooms on the second floor are constructed so as to give the best possible lighting ar rangement. Practically the entire building will be devoted to the Depart* ment of Architecture. It will be com pleted a week from Monday. W. 0. Heckert, of Eugene, is the builder. Great changes have been made to Deady Hall, the oldest building on the campus. The entire interior has been remodeled. The old winding stair ways have been removed and new ones built. The various class rooms have been repainted and made more modern. A hall has ben extended through the building on the second ■ floor and eight office rooms built. The exterior has not been altered, except for new cement stairways on each end. Work has begun on the heating plant, for which $10,000.00 was ap propriated. Mains will be extended to the president’s residence and the new Administration building. , Leaky mains will be dug up and new ones laid. FOOTBALL MEN WORK (Concluded from page 1.) strongest aggregation it has had in years. Washington State College promise some surprises, and their squad is heavy and experienced. According to Bezdek, Oregon will have to work harder than ever before, in view of the material at hand and considering the present outlook of the other teams. When Parsons, Beckett and Cook begin work, along with Weist, Malarkey and Cornell, the work will make better progress. Cornell is showing up better than ever, and Big bee promises to make a good fight for the quarterback position. Weist and Malarkey show good evidence of their former training. Parsons and Beckett were in good shape after training camp broke, and Cook, being a vet eran, is expected to be in shape from the start. The problem of discovering a punt er is giving the coach a great deal of worry. Philbin, a Freshman, looks like a possibility. In closing the interview, Bezdek said: “I can’t give very much dope on the future. , It is poor to say the least. I can tell more about it in a few days, when the best begins to get into form. All in all, prospects are much worse than they were last year at this time.” Cornwell, husky backfield candidate with Eastern prep school experience, is punting in fair shape and is han dling kicks brilliantly. “Tubby” Hen dricks, Freshman end last year, is an other possible toe artist. So far two minor accidents have oc curred. Montieth, a Freshman from Albany, broke his nose in a scrim mage Wednesday, and Dave Philbin left his ear under a fellow player's heel with disastrous results to the ear. Both men are in harness, however. Several “Charley horses” and minor sprains and bruises have devel oped during the scrimmages of the week. This afternoon the prospective Freshman team which will face the Aggie rooks in three weeks is battling a makeshift varsity lineup in a reg ular game on Kincaid Field. Huggins was out of school last year, during which time he worked in hiB father’s store in Salem. Huggins was a team-mate of Wal ter McClure, and ran him a dose sec ond in the mile and two mile events. Huggins’ time for the two mile run was under 9:50, while he covered the mile in 4:25. ************ * EMERALD TRYOUTS * * All students wishing to try out * for the editorial staff of the Em- * * erald should report to City Ed- * * tor Leslie Tooze at once.
