DEFEAT OF DORM, LEAVES
FIJIS AND PHI DELTS IN
PENNANT FIGHT.
SCORE 13-4 FOR PHI DELTS
In Second Game Fijis Take
Dorm Into Camp 5-2. Win
ners Will Battle for Title.
Cups Are Offered.
(By Willard Shaver)
The double defeat of the Dorm
baseball team in the Doughnut ser
ies leaves the Fijis and Phi Delts
each with a victory, and the winner
of this game will have undisputed
title to the Interfraternity Cham
pionship.
Dorm first fell a victim to the
hard hitting Phi Delt team, which
collected off Kuck's delivery 8 sin
gles, one two bagger, two triples and
a homer. These twelve hits, garnered
in a five inning slaughter, coupled
with two walks and as many errors
netted the Bigbee team thirteen tal
lies.
The Phi Delts however didn’t have
a strangle hold on hitting for extra
bases for an error two singles, a
three sack swat and one four ply al
lowed four of Hardesty’s hopefuls
to register.
The score: it. H. E.
Phi Delts .13 12 1
Dorm . 4 4 3
The Dorm, altho’ defeated Mon
day evening by Fiji kept the score
down to 5-2 and hits were scarce on
both sides. Kuck allowed 5 and
‘‘Scoop” Rathburn 3. Hardesty poled
out a three bagger in the Fiji game
and thereby registered his first, last
and only hit of the series.
The feature of the Dorm-Fiji
game was the pitching of Big Bills’
phenom Rathburn who retired eleven
braves who faced him by the ozone
route.
The final game of the series will
he played next week when Fiji will
bat-tie with Phi Belt. A cup will be
awarded to both first and second
place teams and to the batter who
and the highest average, providing
he has been up to bat over five
times.
