JAY MoCORMICA GLEE PROGRAM BEING REVISED NEW FEATURES PLANNED FOR RETURN CONCERT FRIDAY CLUB WORKING FAITHFULLY Continuous Series of Practices Since Christmas Tour Has Bettered Singing. Gillette QWorks on New Selections. O O O The Glee Club in their return con cert at the Eugene theatre Friday night will have the same old pep and the same old! harmony, but dh entire new line of songs than those they gave at the last home concert, ac cording to graduate manager, Dean Walker. The program will also dif fer from the program given by the club on the road, as several changes have been made. Albert Gillette will sing a selec tion from Faust instead of the Tore ador Song from Carmen, which he sang during the last trip. Instead of “The Pretty Creature,’’ in Old English, he will probably sing from grand opera. Professor Lyman 'will sing at the concert Friday night while at the other home concert he did not ap pear. He will probably sing “Sweet Wind That Blows,” from Chadwick, the same song that he sang on the Glee Club trip. Manager Walker says this number alone will make the concert worth hearing again. Shaver and Cowden, whose stunt, “Good Old Vaudeville,” made such a hit at the last home concert, have assumed an air of mystery as to their new features but there is a rumor that they will spring something new. “We have nothing to say for the press,” said Shaver, Tuesday morn ing. “Caught With the Goods,” Jerard and Batley’s stunt, is also being re vised and new “pep” added. Walker predicts that this number alone will be worth the price of admission. Prof. Ralph H. Lyman is not say ing much as to the concert but ad mitted if the glee club gets out and practices the remaining few days, that it will be an “unusually fine concert. TWO STUDENTS ARRESTED AND GIVEN REPRIMAND Appear in Court on the Charge of Disturbing the Peace Sam Cook, a member of last fall’s football team, and Ray Sweeney, late of the University of California, were escorted to the city jail last night by the entire local police force and re inforcements, at the conclusion of a near-riot at the Eugene theatre, in the course of which the members of the Basco Opera company on the stage were peltdd with fruit and vegetables. A third captive, also a student and athlete, succeeded in eluding the policeman who had him in tow and made his escape. Sweeney also got separated from his captor temporarily, but he was later recog nized in the crowd and apprehended. Cook and Sweeney were held until the ire of 100 students who had fol lowed them had sub&’ded, and were then released on bail. This morning at 9 o’clock both men were let off by City Recorder R. S. Bryson with a reprimand. ° The°trouble was attributed by students to exuberance over the com pletion of final examinations. Thurs day ev§ning the Frank B. Rich com pany was given a reception even more enthusiastic than that of last night. The subsequent performances of the Rich company, although large ly attended by the students, passed off without serious disturbance, due to the presence of policemen and deputies who flanked the band on both sides. In justice to the two prisoners, it was asserted that they were not the ringleaders. Cook, on acocunt of his size, loomed up among his compan ions and was a likely target for the officers. Sweeney, it is said, did not make an intentional attempt to stem the course of the Law. Testimony j differs as to who threw the fruit. Hot dogs at Obak's.
