PRESS FRATERNITY INSTALLED TOMORROW Press Club Will Become Omicron, or Thirteenth Chapter of Sigma Delta Chi. Omicron chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, the honorary journalistic fra ternity, will be installed tomorrow evening, when the University Press Club will become the thirteenth chap ter of that organization, after the ceremonies at the Osburn Hotel. Carl H. Getz, ’13, editor of the University of Washington Daily, and secretary of the Washington chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, will be the in stalling officer. He will probably be assisted by Lair Gregory, formerly editor of the Midnight Doughnut, the only strictly funny paper ever pub lished at the University of Oregon. Following the installation and ini tiatory ceremonies, the recently es tablished chapter of pencil pushers will enjoy a banquet, which will be marked by numerous toasts. Mr. Getz, who is also a Delta Upsilon, will arrive in Eugene tomorrow after noon. The following will become mem bers of the Omicron chapter: Fen Waite, Karl Onthank, Leland Hend ricks, Henry Fowler, Sam Michael, Franklin Ailen, Don Rice, Carleton Spencer, and Harold Young. DECIDED HIT SCORED HY SENIOR THESPIANS (Continued from first page.) noil, in the leading roles, fully justi fied the responsibility placed upon them—Vawter as the graceless col lege “sport,” Tom Harrington, and Miss Donnell, as the charming daugh ter of the millionaire miner, Dan Dav enant. Doth exhibited thorough con trol of their parts, which were long and deeply involved. Vawter’s ap pearance as leading man in “A Stren uous Life,” marks the conclusion of four consecutive seasons in University dramatic and musical productions. Warner and Quigley Skillful Actors. Perhaps the most skillful acting displayed was that of Harold Warner, as Professor James, and Harold Quigley, as James Roberts, Freshman. They coped splendidly with two of the most difficult roles of the caste, and received many a hand and laugh. Thad Wentworth, as Dan Davenant, a wealthy miner, and Hilda Drant, as Mrs. Wiggins, proprietress of the Berkeley boarding house, carried off their comedy parts well; both were well adapted to their roles and pro vided much amusement. The seconds, Glen Storie and Lucile Abrams, had but limited scope in which to display their ability, but con tributed in no small degree to the ef fectiveness of the whole. Robert Furiss, as the old-fashioned father, and Alice Farnsworth, as his daughter, Duleie, sustained their parts in admirable style. Kenneth Frazier, in the role of the Japanese servant, was an indispensible addition. 4 11 141..., W .,11 The roles assigned to Ann Mc Micken, the store-keeper; Burleiph Cash, as Professor McGee, and Abe Blackman, as the hill-collector, while of minor interest, admitted of stronp interpretation; and all were success fully presented. Comment on the per formance was noticeably free from that bupahoo of amateur theatricals, "except for that one actor.” No body excepted anybody; all wore pood. A full house preeted the players. The receipts practically balanced the expenditures, of which the principal items were advertisinp and the ex penses and salary of Director Bern ard. Of class authorities conversant, with the history of the play, practically all express the opinion that the enpape meat of William Bernard as coach was the decidinp factor in the success of the affair. Mr. Bernard endeared himself to all with whom he came in contact, and at his departure was presented with a handsome onpraved oipar-holder by Manaper Ernest 1 amh. in behalf of the company WASHINGTON Champ Clark was re-elected speaker of the House of Representatives today ——■■.i - .♦-.— Smoke Growers Bond Cipars, 5c Etipene made Manila Cipars at Obaks.
