W. H. S. TEAM 10 PLAY UNIVERSITY FRESHMEN High Sihool Five Has Good Record in Fast—Tickets on Sale at Hook Exchange. The star Washington High School basketball team of Portland will meet the Freshman five in the annual W. H. S.-Freshman game here Friday evening. Last year each of the two contesting teams managed to win a game, and the Washington High team is said to be as strong this year as last, so this year’s Freshmen will have their work cut out for them. The Freshman basketball players have been out in force all week prac ticing for the coming struggle. The first lineup will probably be: Davis and Wheeler, forwards; Bigbee and Hampton, guards; Brownell, center. Other Freshmen, who may enter the game, are Sims, George, and Kirk. The Freshman team proved that it would play basketball yesterday after noon, when they played the Varsity a practice game. For the greater part of the game the lighter team did some good work, slipping over basket after basket on the big regulars. No score was kept, but the Freshmen were close competitors until the last few minutes of play, when the weight and experience of their opponents began to count, and the Varsity team work became better as the game prog ressed. Tickets for the game, at twenty five and thirty-five cents are now on sale at the Book Exchange. The game will start promptly at X o’clock, with one of the Varsity players probably acting as referee. The date for a re turn game with W. If. S. has not yet been set. Student tickets do not admit. The Faculty of the Ohio State Uni versity have decided to supervise school dances, including those of frat ernities and sororities. They claim that, this scheme will avoid conflicts and foster a spirit of democracy that has been lacking. This is the first step to be taken to limit those ac tivities in which only a few students are interested. Fifteen football men will he award ed "M’s” at the University of Min nesota this year. Another interclass race will be held February 22, and from the re sults of this race Bill Hayward will pick his distance material for next spring. Hayward did not seem ex ceptionally dubious over the seem ingly discouraging outlook and said that beyond a doubt the track pros pects will pick up greatly when the weather improves.
