RHILROHDS PREPARE FOR BIG EXCURSION I Southern Pacific and Oregon 1 Electric Announce Cut Rates to Albany. Plans are already under way for ex cursions to the game. The Southern Pacific and the Oregon Electric have both made proposals to transport the crowd which will number approxim ately two thousand students and townspeople. The Southern Pacific will furnish a special train to leave any time in the morning and to return immediately after the game, for a one way rate of $1.35. The Oregon Electric has promised a special train for a similar one way price of $1.30, and upon the same running time. Steps will be taken at once by Yell Leader Abe Blackman to mobilize the student forces for the game. Announcement of more definite plans for the excursion will be made in the regular issue of the Emerald tomorrow. Monthly Omits November. The second issue of the Oregon Monthly will go to press about De cember first, according to present plans. Manager Cake finds himself confronted with the problem of so husbanding the funds of the maga zine as to equalize the expenditure in curred in printing and circulating, gratis, several thousand extra copies of the October number, in the interest of the Millage Tax Bill. Coach Hyatt, leader in aquatic sports at Wisconsin, has devised a new water game to take the place of water polo, which was done away with by the “Rip: Nine” as an intercollegi ate sport. I SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT AIDS ASHLAND’S' WOMEN VOTERS Thmt the newly enfranchised citi zens of the State are preparing them selves for the positions of politicians and office holders, is evidenced by the Ashland Equal Suffrage Club. This organization, having successfully car ried out its fight for women’s rights, has applied to the Department of Economics and Sociology for outlines for the study of social and political questions. The department will take this matter up with similar clubs over the State and is prepared to furnish material where it is wanted. Dr. H. B. Leonard Talks to Y. M. C. A “ A Christian is a man who is al ways in training,” said Dr. H. B. Leonard who spoke in the Y. M. C. A. meeting Thursday evening in the ab sence of Hon. R. A. Booth. From his ptrsonal exptrience, Dr. Leonard mentioned instances of Chris titn athletes, whom he knew, who could play football Saturday, then preach the following day. The meeting was concluded with a solo by Marion McClain, a former student in the University. Iowa has instituted the Sunday af ternoon vesper services, to be held in their auditorium. KAPPA ALPHA THETA LEADS IN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Kappa Alpha Theta stands at the head! of the inter-sorority basketball league with three victories for three games played to her credit. The Thela. team so far is the only team which has maintained a perfect score up-todate, though the Gamma Delta Gamma six has not yet been heard from. The Oregon Club suffered defeat at the hands of the Kappa Alpha Theta machine Thursday by a score of 33 to 5. The game was too one sided to be very interesting. The co-ed basket ball enthusiasts were surprised at the showing made by the Oregon Club in this game, as their team was one of the strongest in the league last year. The feature of this game was the unerring shooting of Hazel Rader and Bess Cowden. Social events for the past week have been conspicuous for their absence. “The Clouds” has held the attention of the student body and is the only event scheduled to take place this week-end, as the Phi Delta Theta dance, which was to be given in hon or of the Glee Club, has been post poned until next wek. The new system of Student Control svas begun at Stanford University last Saturday. Holbrook Blinn, in “A Romance of th e Underworld," at Eugene Theatre, Friday, November 22.
