DRINKING CUP The relegation of the drinking cup and the installation of drinking foun tains in all the buildings of the cam pus was unquestionably a great step in the way of sanitation. However, with water barely trickling from the sphere of the fountain (in the library, for instance), and with every thirsty soul forced to such long and hard work at the “door-knob” to obtain a drop of refreshing moisture, the question arises: Cannot germs dwell as com fortably upon a convex surface as upon a concave surface, or is the former too slippery? If this is too dif ficult a problem for our scientists, perhaps allowing the water to bubble up a couple of inches would make an answer unnecessary. FRESHMEN WILE POLISH BRASS MEMORIALS The Freshman class intends to es tablish an Oregon custom in regard to the cleaning of the memorial plates left by preceding classes. These plates have been neglected formerly, and are so covered with verdigris, as to render the inscriptions almost il legible. Owing to the fact that the class is not well organized, nothing definite will be decided upon until the next meeting, although the committee is busy, at present, devising plans to start the proposed movement in an appropriate manner. The Freshman president was un willing to make known the class plans, but said that hereafter the plates will be kept in perfect condition.
