ROUND INTO SHAPE
DOBIE SWAMPS EVERETT HIGH
55 to 0.
A. A. C. Coach Fails to Enthuse Over
Prospects—Whitman Hacks
Show Up Strong.
Dobie’s hopes had their first work
out Saturday, when they swamped Ev
erett High School, 55 to 0. The result
indicates nothing, as an early season
varsity-high school game is more or
less a cat and mouse proposition.
However, it does show, that Dobie is
whipping a scoring machine into shapo
remarkably early in the season, con
sidering the fact that he was constant
ly shifting his lineup to give the re
cruits a chance. Nothing is known of
Everett’s strength this season, but if
dope on former teams amounts to
anything, Everett High has for years
been a strong contender for the Wash
ington state championship.

Archie Hahn expects to use Niles,
Bloomquist and Kinder for his back
fleld trio. In Niles, Hahn has the best
punter in the Northwest. This de
partment is worrying every other
coach in the conference. Bloomquist
and Kinder are both track men. The
Whitman backs at present look like
the speediest in the Big Six.
According to the Washington Daily,
Jaquot, the varsity fullback, will be
back in the game in a few days. The
Tacoma boy’s injury was less serious
than first reports indicated. Jaquot’s
injury is the only one reported so far
this season by Dobie. The Scot is
probably saving his hospital list until
the pyschological moment.

Coach Dolan is not as enthusiastic
over the O. A. C. football prospects,
as are some of the Portland scribs.
Dolan fails to euthuse much about the
Carlisle Indian player whom the pa
pers have announced as attending O.
A. C., until the man actually appears
on the scene. Dolan says, “It will be
the old story of nn eleven man team.
Unless more second team men appear,
we will be in the same predicament
as last year, when an injury to one
man almost disorganized the team.”

The Hoard of Trustees of Albany
College plan to erect an entirely new
college plant. A new college campus
containing forty-nine acres and sev
eral modern buildings is the plan of
the Albany trustees. Among the new
buildings planned is an administration
building which will probnbly cost
$76,000, four recitation halls at a
cost of about $60,000 each, two dor
mitories costing about $86,000 each,
a $26,000 library, a gymnasium cost
ing about $30,000, and a chapel build
ing estimated at $30,000. It is hoped
to have a part of these buildings
ready for occupancy in 1013. The
others will be built as soon as funds
are available.
