Manager Ralph Cake, of the Ore gon Monthly, announces that the first issue of the magazine for the current year will be ready for distribution about October 10th. Preparations for publication have been practically completed, and a vigorous campaign for subscriptions is planned. The staff of the Monthly has been weakened considerably by the ab sence of Wm. Cass and Miss Esther Grissen, associate editors-elect. How ever, Miss Dunham, the editor, has filled the vacancies by appointment, having elected several assistants in the various departments. As a re sult the following stalT personnel is announced: Literary, Nellie Ilemen vay, with Leland Hendricks and Lloyd Rarzee, assistants; Art, Bess Cowden■ Margaret Rankin, assistant; Verse, Lucia Macklin; Engineering, A1 Davies; Exchange, Lyle Steiwer, assisted by Katherine Carson and Jessup Strang. Manager t ake, when interviewed concerning the rumored change of the Monthly to a Quarterly publication, said: “It is true, that the project has been under discussion, but no active step has been taken, and we are making no deviation from the original plans for the year’s work. Unless some unforeseen event occurs, the first issue, under the old name, will appear in about three weeks.” DANCE IS INFORMAL The first student body dance of the annual series will he held this even ing in the men’s gymnasium, as an appropriate close for the afternoon’s struggle between the Sophomores and Freshmen. The aim of the management and faculty has been to keep the affair as strictly informal as possible, and for this reason they ask the co-operation of co-eds in order to insure extreme simplicity of costuming. The patrons and patronesses are: Mr. and Mrs. Campbell, Miss Hayden, Mrs. Bancroft, Mrs. Cray, Mrs. Jes sup, and Miss Bonisteel.
