BASEBALL BENEFIT TO BE PLAYED AT MIDWAY Galaxy of Talent to Appear in Game Scheduled at 2:45 Sunday Afternoon. There will be a benefit baseball game pulled off at Midway Park to morrow afternoon, at 2:45, the pro ceeds to be donated to the fund for sending Trainer Hayward with the Oregon athletes to the Stockholm games. The teams will be made up of local picked athletes, as nearly balanced in strength as possible, and a lively struggle is insured. A score of enthusiastic students under the direction of Ben Chandler and Obak Wallace are canvassing the down town business district this aft ernoon, disposing of tickets to the benefit performance. The manner in which the students and friends of the University have en tered into the spirit of the campaign has called for the highest commenda tion on the part of all those who realize the vital importance of send ing Trainer Hayward along with the brilliant Oregon athletes, who were successful in making the national team. Tickets will be on sale at Obaks up until the time for the game. The proceeds will be telegraphed to Mr. Hayward in New York, as it will be necessary for him to leave tonight in order to catch the boat which leaves New York on the 15th. I he Line up.. Utility ‘Why Not All Share.” The question naturally arises at this time, why we can’t all share alike in our different student body enter prises. There has been issued a hurry call to collect the financial means to send our Bill Hayward to the Olympic games and the Fraterni ties and Sororities have risen to the oc casion and dug down in the almost empty money sack to produce that means. All were approached, except the Oregon Club, they escaping, since they still owe the sum of ten dollars to the rooting fund for the past year. Yet this same club participates in our games and frolics and reaps the same benefits therefrom that the rest of us do. I would suggest to their con trolling board or treasurer, that a small sum be levied against each member at the start of the school year. Thus they would have a little cash on hand and consequently would be ready to meet all emergencies. Certainly the Oregon Club can afford to contribute to these student body enterprises the same as the Dormitory Club, the Fraternities and the Sorori ■■■■■■ " " - -- -- -- -- ---v-v Eugene Business College A Modern School of Business The recognized leader among business training schools between Portland and San Francisco; we have nearly five thousand square feet of floor space devoted exclusively to school work.
