Lamb and mutton, steak and stew, I Ham and chicken, pork and beef, In a motley mass of jumble Served again to me and you. Ah, 1 recognize those giblets, There is one I could not crack; O! Good evening, Mr. Gristle, Ami that peck is coming back! Friends of other meals, 1 greet you, Greet you in the good old way: Yes, dog-gone you, I will eat you, Or you’ll come again some day.”—Ex. Report of Committee. The report of the special commit tee on the millage tax is as follows’: “Resolved, that it is the sense of this committee that the revenue necessary for the support of the educational institutions of this state should be raised through a millage tax; that the amount which it appears is nec essary for the proper support of the University of Oregon and the Agri cultural College, be provided through the levy of a seven tenths of a mill tax and that the amount so raised, should be apportioned the two insti tutions on the basis of four-seventh to the Agricultural College, and three-sevenths to the University of Oregon, provided, however, that on or after one year from date the gover nor, state treasurer, secretary of state, and the presidents of the re spective boards of regents, acting as a board, may reapportion said tax be tween the two institutions upon such equitable basis as to them may seem just and proper.” The last reports from Whitman College show an epidemic of tonsili tis.
