Mr. Wallace, after canvassing the business section of Eugene, received contributions from the following firms and individuals: Obak Cigar Store, J. A. Murray, Red W. Store, C. F. Cole, M. M. Bull, R. C. Keeny. S. H. Friendly & Co., The Club (Smith & McCormick), The Koh-i-noor, Geo. Marks, Nichols & Walker, Seth E. Laraway, Elmer Roberts, 0. V. Rob erts, The Club Barber Shop. Dillon Drug Co., B. CO-EDS MUST ATTEMPT TENNIS OR GOLF FOR GYM CREDITS During the Spring all Freshman and Sophomore co-eds are required to take two hours of out-door work each week for their gymnasium credit. They can take their choice between golf and tennis. The majority, thus far, have signed up for tennis. Little golfing has been done on ac count of the growth of the grass on the links, which makes playing prac tically impossible. Luckey’s jewelry story has offered a cup for the win ner of a girl’s handicap tournament, to be played this spring, but it is pos sible that the matches will not mater ialize this year on account of the con dition of the course and a dearth of golfing interest, due to other feminine atti actions. CO-ED EMERALD PROVES DECIDEDLY SUCESSFUL The fifth co-ed Emerald was an in teresting proof of what the Oregon girls can do and also served as an in dex to various college activities and traditions to the Junior week-end visitors. The cover design was an “interesting” and entertaining silhou ette study by Marge Rankin, and was probably the most attractive cover yet seen. The various departments, from the ever present mill race and editorials to the sporting section, were cleverly executed by the staff. In fact, the whole was a decided success. Y. W. C. A. Jack Johnson, who for the past two seasons pitched gilt edge ball for the University of Washington baseball nine, has been chosen captain of the next year’s aggregation. This is Johnson’s sophomore year at Wash ington, having made the nine in his freshman year. Jessie Lewis, leader of the Univer sity of Washington Co-ed debating team, which will meet the University of Oregon next Friday, resigned her place on the team because of a severe attack of nervous prostration. Bertha Banks, who withdrew from the team because of the press of out side work some time ago, has been reappointed and will act as leader. Although somewhat handicaped, the \\ ashington co-eds expect to put up a good tight in the coming contest. Wm. Moses, ’ll, principal of Jef ferson City High School, was a week end guest at the Delta Sigma house.
