TRACK TEAM FRIDAY Close Competition Between Ancient Rivals Assured—Both Teams De feat Multnomah. On Friday afternoon, O. A. C. and Oregon will clash in the first dual track meet held between the two in stitutions in the last three years. Although the dope at present is somewhat in favor of Oregon, the meet will undoubtedly prove close and exciting. Both teams have met and defeated Multnomah by about the same score and although the time at Corvallis was not as fast as that at Eugene (a couple of weeks ago), the condition of the track would account for the slight difference. Baker, of 0. A. C., has been running a fast race in the sprints this spring and will un doubtedly give Jimmie Johns a good clase race in the 100 and 220. Oregon is also weak in the broad and high jump and close results can be expect ed in these events also. Two events of particular interest will be pulled off. Sam Bellah, the famous Multnomah Club vaulter, who will act as starter, has announced that he will give an exhibition in the pole vault, in which he will try for a record, while McClure, Oregon’s fa mous miler, will undoubtedly try to lower the record in that event. F. Morris Dunne has been selected to referee the meet. Manager Geary has announced that the tickets will be 75 cents, with 25 cents additional charge for grandstand seats. ENGINEERS HEAR TALKS BY FORMER MEMBERS The Engineering Club was enter tained Tuesday by two former mem bers, Curtis Gardner, ’08, and Ethan Collier, ’09, both of whom have made good in the engineering field. Mr. Curtis Gardner, ’08, outlined briefly the practical side of architec ture. He described different kinds of buildings and their construction with reference to the architect. Ethan Collier, ’09, described the new $12,000,000 Cape Cod Canal in Massachusetts. His talk was to the point and appreciated by all. The next regular meeting of the Engineering Club will be of especial interest, May 21. Bill Main and Reu ben Steelquist will speak. Annual election of officers will be held.
