Book Exchange, Dorm. MISSING LIBRARY BOOKS MAY LEAD TO DRASTIC ACTION Owing to the fact that many of the library books have been missing for several months, the faculty have de cided to take some action whereby this loss will be prevented. In speaking of the matter, one of the faculty said, “From time to time books have disappeared from the stacks, only to be returned in a some what damaged condition. Last year we sent a wagon around to the differ ent fraternities and clubs and gath ered a great many of the missing volumes, one of the houses having a wheelbarrow load in their possession. Even books returned to the wrong place are considered as lost. It has been suggested by the fac- ‘ ulty, that before steps have to be taken to recover the books, each house appoint a person to take care of the library books in their house, and see that they are returned at once. Should this not have the desired ef fect, it will be necessary to deny the privilege of the stacks to the stu dents, which will mean that all books must be taken out thorough the lib rarian. DOUGHNUT LEAGUE GAMES RESUMED AFTER WEEK-END There will be no more interfratern ity baseball games until after Junior week-end and probably not until after the games with O. A. C. On account of spring vacation and bad weather, the practice of the base ball team has been seriously inter fered with. Manager Brown says that every avaiable minute will be used for practice, in order that the team may overcome the three weeks handicap. The fraternities are waiting with impatience until the time when they may show their prowess before large and interested groups of appreciative oc-eds. * The Scroll and Script Recep- * * tion will be postponed until Fri- * * day before Commencement week, * * owing to the numerous festivities * * of Junior week-end. * * ********** * GLEE CLUB MEN, ATTENTION* * _ * * The Glee Club men will please * * assemble at the Campus Banquet * * and at the Junior Prom, Satur- * * day, to sing a few songs. The cause of this unusual turn-out was the novel and spectac ular demonstration of the thermite process of welding. The meeting was held in the evening instead of the aft ernoon, as is the custom. A thorough explanation of the ther mite process was given by Lyman Rice. He also exhibited a fine collec tion of pictures, showing the process in use in various different places. The meeting then adjourned to the cam pus behind McClure’s Hall, where Mr. Rice made a demonstration of the working of the process. He proceed ed to heat steel in a crucible to a temperature of about six thousand degrees Fahrenheit and then welded two steel rails together with it. The next meeting of the club will be May 13. at the usual hour, 4 P. M. The subject announced for discussion is the purification of drinking water. Sap Latourette spent the week-end at Albany and Corvallis. Miss Charlie Fenton will arrive at the Theta house Thursday.
