CANOE CARNIVAL IS NOW ASSURED FACT Feature of W eek-End Assumes Shape —Club Members Must Pay Up. With the receipt of a letter from the chairman of the M. A. A. C. swimming Committee, the one big feature of the Canoe Carnival is cinched. Prof. Art Cavill, the noted swimming instructor of the club, will give an exhibition of his skill, espe cially in life saving. This is looked on as a great drawing card, and will probably insure a big crowd in itself. The time for the water show has been definitely set for Friday after noon, at 1 o’clock, in order to give the crowd time to see the track meet. There will be no admission charge. The program, which will of necess ity be short, preceeding the 0. A. C. track meet as it does, will include two prep swimming events, two var sity sprints, a double and single canoe race, a tilting contest, diving and swimming exhibitions by B. and V. Vickers, two local experts, and the exhibition by Cavill. There will be medals awarded for the prep winners, but no trophies for the other events. The starting place is to be just opposite the Engineering building, the finish in the pond just above the head gates, where a wide bank gives a good vantage point for spectators. As there will be considerable ex pense connected with the meet, the club members will be called upon by the Treasurer next Tuesday evening for their one dollar dues. A complete list of members will be sent to each house before Tuesday evening, in order that collection of the dues may be facilitated.
