The Eutaxian Literary Society lis tened to a very interesting program on the Negro Problem Tuesday even ing. A debate, “Resolved, That the Ne gro Should be Deprived of Suffrage,” was won by Birdie Wise and Eleanor McClaine of the negative. Bess Cow den and Lenore Hansen argued for the affirmative. After this a general and heated discussion took place on the question of whether or not the negro was better by freedom. Three new members took the oath. M. A. A. C. Meet Left Surplus Contrary to the general predictions, last Saturday’s meet with Multnomah Club, of Portland, did not cause a financial deficit. The totale receipts taken in at the gate amounted to .$95.50. The cost of advertising was $15.00, and the expenses of the visit ing team, $80.00. This leaves a small balance of 50 cents to the good.
