'‘Toggery” 554 WILLAMETTE STREET Cast All In Readiness for Appearance Before Big Varsity Audience. Thursday, April 1, is the date for the production of the Senior Play, “She Stoops to Conquer.” This ear lier date was secured so that the stu dents leaving Friday for the spring vacation could attend the play. Under the direction of Professor Reddie, no time nor expense have been spared in making this production a success. Over one hundred dollars worth of costumes and special scen ery are being prepared at present by the Chicago Costume House, of Port land. “She Stoops to Conquer” is a com edy on manners, by Oliver Goldsmith. Those who have seen the play staged speak highly of its character. When asked for a statement, Pro fessor Reddie said he was satisfied with the work of the cast and their handling of parts. He spoke espe cially of Miss Waterman, acting as “Mrs. Hardcastle.” Tony Lumkin, alias Roland Kennedy, the much abused son of Mrs. Hardcastle, also promises to make a hit. Ed. Himes, manager of the Senior Stock Company, has induced Bob Kel logg, former Glee Club man, to voice his endeavor to renew the freshness of his faded laurels. Other seniors will take part in the cast, which will include about sixteen. The cast is as follows: Sir Charles Marlowe, Sidney Hen derson. Young Marlowe, Earl Latourette. Mr. Hardcastle, Rex Turner. Hastings, John Shattaick. Tony Lumkin, Roland Kennedy. Mrs. Hardcastle, Emma Waterman. Miss Hardcastle, Mildred Bagley. Miss Neville, Jean Allison. Dolly, Ruby Hammerstrom. Landlord, William Dunlap. Servants—Mathew Stastny, Hugh Currin, E. J. Himes. Tavern Bums, Robert Kellogg, Jas. Johns, Homer Jamison. Scene—Home of the Hardcastles. The type of character selected is that of a very lovable but eccentric woman, an old fashioned grandma, whose generous nature and quaint characteristics in volve her in a very funny complica tion, and from this numerbale situa tions of the laugh producing charac ter. Miss Robson will assume the role of “Granmum,” supported by an excel lent company. There are many well known players in the cast. The play will be seen at the Eugene theater, April 18. Just now the University of Oregon is relying on one of her alumni to save her from some mis-direeted theo rists. In the years to come, Woodson T.
