GETS MARRIAGE LICENSE—ALMOST Did you know Rex Turner had taken out a marriage license to marry a fair maiden of Eugene? Well, neither did he, until he had one. Yes, sir,” said Rex. “Alright,” said the clerk, “answer these questions,” and he took down a big book off the shelf. “Name, please.” “Rex A. Tur ner,” Residence: “Salem.” Color: “Er-er white.” Age: “25 years.” Oc cupation: “Student.” Number of mar riage: “Why, I’m yet to be married.” Full name of maiden: “Lu—, say, what’re you giving me here?” yelled Rex in great wonderment. “Why, didn’t you ask for marriage license?” said the clerk. “Naw,” grunted Rex. “I want to register.” SH! The first chapter contains reminis cences of his early childhood, but more could not be learned, for just then Prof. Howe came in his room and caught the reporter, took the manuscript from him, and booted him out of the house; threatening to “flunk” him, if he published a story concerning him.
