Nu's conducted an X-ray exhibition, while the Avava Club catered to the gaming class with a prize roulette wheel. Among the sororities, the Gamma Phi girls scored heavily with their “saloon,” in which root beer, punch and real pretzels were sold to the thirsting multitude. The Kappa Al pha Theta girls reproduced Eugene's Saturday night struggles in their five-cent dance hall. The Mary Spil ler Hall girls did a big business at the candy booth. Other sorority mai dens cried their wares through the audience, conducted fortune-telling booths, and assisted in various other ways. The “Troubadours,” an organiza tion composed of the residue from the defunct “Mandolin Club, appeared in the Orpheum show and otherwise made themselves obnoxious about the hall. The big event of the evening was. of course, the minstrel show, which was given on a large improvised stage in the main room. “Jim” Rob erts was the director of the company, and held forth as an end man, to gether with Glen Storie, Bob Fariss and Gene Goode. "Heine” Heiden reich, in a parody on “You’ll Do the Same Thing Over,” and Bert Jerard in “Mammy’s Shufflin Rag,” were two Freshmen whose numbers were hits, while “Jim” Roberts and Glen Storie, the two heavy end men, succeeded with their songs, "That's a Plenty,” and “Mr. Johnson, Good Night.” A chorus of leading Varsity war blers backed up the main performers, and “Jerry”’ Martin officiated as in terlocutor. The local hits were Clevel and made a good impression on the audience. Alva O. Condit, ’90, is a success ful lawyer of Salem, Ore.
