Portland Woolen Mills Hires Man to
Give Concert at Annual Xmas
J ubilee.
What do you know about it, the Glee
Club men are going to make five dol
lars ($5.00) apiece and no joke either.
Mr. Test, manager of the Portland
Woolen INI ills, and a former Eugene
business man, has hired the club to
give its concert at the annual Christ
mas jubilee of the millmen in St.
Johns, on Saturday afternoon. Dec.
23, and in addition to the five dollars
salary will be given a good banquet,
a special street car and a chance to
mingle with the millmen.
The men will leave The Dalles Sat
urday morning early and reach Port
land at 10:30 A. M. A special car will
be at the Union station to meet them
and take them to St. Johns, where
they will feast with the millmen at
the annual Christmas dinner. At one
o’clock in the afternoon the concert
will be given in the mill assembly
room, and at three o’clock the special
car will take the Club to Portland to
catch the 3:46 train for Salem.
The prospect of that five dollars
has improved the singing of the Club
750 per cent, it is said.
