RUTH ST. DENIS TO
DANCE HERE MONDAY
Ruth St. Denis has selected the
people of ancient Egypt for the sec
ond in her cycle of oriental creations,
and in these new dances founded on
their religion and customs, in con
junction with the best of her Hindu
numbers, she will appear at the Eu
gene Theatre on Monday, April 8th.
The first part of the program is
composed of the new Egyptian
dances. These are in three series.
The first is founded on the famous
“Feasts of Eternity,” the culmination
RUTH ST. DENIS
of which was “The Tamboura,” which
Miss St. Denis will dance. For the
second number she appears in “The
Veil of Isis,” wherein the great god
dess gives manifestation of Neith,
Hathor and Isis, the Egyptian trin
ity. For the final dance, Miss St.
Denis presents “The Dance of Day,”
typifying the rise and fall of ancient
Egypt. There are four elaborate set
tings made from drawings completed
Miss St. Denis in the principal mu
seums and libraries of the world.
