ELIJAHBROWN’S MANTLE TO FULL ON ABLE ELISHA John Andrews Hunt Who Will Suc ceed to This Mission Post Is Promising Young Man. John Andrews Hunt, (unmarried), six feet high, a prominent athlete in his university, a strong speaker, an unusually popular man in society, and one who is recognized as a leader among his associates, such will be the next general secretary of the Y. M. C. A. at the University of Oregon. Mr. Hunt graduates from DePauw University at Green Castle, Indiana, this spring. Mr. Percy Adams re ceived a telegram from the president of the University yesterday, saying that he was glad to send word of the acceptance by Mr. Hunt of the proposition made him by the Advisory Board of the U. of 0. Y. M. C. A., and he wished to add his enthusiastic recommendation of the man. Being a university man and not a j college man, he understands univer sity problems, being a fraternity man, he is able to appreciate the attitude of the fraternity man toward such work as he represents. The local as sociation feels fortunate in being able to secure him. SCANT 25 HEED LUCKEY’S FRANTIC CALLS FOR HELP Although but a scant 25 responded to the baseball manager’s call for help in erecting temporary bleachers this morning the crowd made up in enthusiasm what it lacked numeri i cally and by noon had the lion’s share of the work done. The stand is designed to accomodate 250 and parallels the third base line. Netting will protect the spectators from foul balls and Jack Luckey, the genial manager, is selecteing nothing but the softest boards for his patrons to sit upon. The bleachers will be completed for Wednesday’s game. I On account of the extra work to • be done in preparing the baseball practice grounds on the campus for varsity games it has been necessary ! to appoint another assistant base- j , ball manager. “Busher” Brown is the lucky man and with becoming modesty has accepted the new honor I thrust upon him. __ __ The college Y. M. C. A. was visited this week by the coast secertary who is making a trip to inspect the North west organizations.
