There’s a Reason MISS WADE DECORATES EATON'S MEMORY BOOK Drawings Chosen by Competition Among University Artists The new Oregon Memory Book which Allen Eaton expects to put on the mar ket in about ten days, is to be. as Mr. Eaton says, an article of "some class.” The book will have a linen, neutral colored cover, approximately 13x17 inches. In accord with his intention of making this memory book distinctively Oregon, Mr. Eaton has chosen for the front cover a design drawn by Chris tine Wade, T2. Miss Wade’s drawings, which include cover designs and head ings, were chosen by competition among the various student artists, and Miss Wade will receive a substantial prize. The drawings are said to be very attractive and to give a decided college tone to the book. The back cover will be stamped with the Oregon seal, or to make it more in dividual, it will be possible to have, in stead, any fraternity letters or person al initials if desired. The inside of the book will also be decorated and ar ranged for special departments—ruled for autographs and football schedules, with special paper for mounting pic tures, etc. In order that they may be arranged to suit individual tastes, these inside pages will be put in by some loose leaf arrangement. Mr. Eaton would be glad to receive from the students any suggestions as to special features, and he will pay for any inside page designs which he can use. It is his purpose to produce some thing which will suit all the students, and to this end he wishes them to aid him in planning it. PROFESSOR ADAMS GIVES NEW COURSE IN DRAWING A new course opened in the Univer sity, and one advancing rapidly, is the course in free hand drawing, given by Professor Adams. It is becoming quite popular with those registered, and some splendid work is being done. At present there is no college of fine arts, hut it is hoped that in the near future such a department will be or ganized. At present this course in free hand drawing is given in the college of Civil Engineering. There are about twelve students in the course, and it is hoped to increase each semester. Some of the students have proved very efficient, and by the end of the year there will no doubt he some good work turned out. ADVISE SIMPLE FROCKS FOR STUDENT DANCES The student body dances should be made informal affairs. Last year the Senior dance was in a way informal, but when the first student body dance came, although the men did not wear dress suits, many of the girls came elaborately dressed. 1 think the girls should get together and decide to wear simple dresses, or perhaps shirt waists and skirts. It" the dances are made sim ple affairs, they will be more demo cratic and more representative of the student body as a whole. Let the girls decide that they will lie informal affairs, and they are bound to be more enjoyable. | CORNELIA PIXKHAM.
