It is hoped at Washinton that the Californians will receive a special dispensation from their respective faculties, enabling them to make the Seattle trip earlier. Since the monster assembly Febru ary 2nd, at which liberal student sub scriptions assured the crew trip to Wis consin next June, collection of funds has gone on steadily and systematically in the hands of several student commit tees. The raising of a sum sufficient to cover all expenses of the trip is now well assured. At a special meeting of the Board of Control last Friday, it was unanimously ^decided to send the track team to the Pacific Coast conference meet May 14, at Berkeley. CENTER TO FORWARD The new gymnasium is a busy place these days, the basketball squad prac ticing daily for the big Idaho games today and tomorrow. The men are get ting accustomed to the large hall and with a bit more team work are expect ed to make an excellent showing as individually the bunch are first class players. Trainer Hayward has decided to switch Jamison to forward and Ruth to center and expects this change to make a material improvement. He is satisfied with the showing the men are making and is optimistic over tlie chances against Idaho. A regular team has not been select ed, but will be taken from the bunch now turning out and changed so as to give a number a chance. Some of the more promising of the squad are. Stine, Ruth, Jamison, Elliott, Watson, Per kins, Means, Moore, Cockerline and Holmes. Manager Roy Terry is working hard on the schedule and advertising the games liberally so as to make the sea son a financial success. Harry Stine has been elected cap tain. He has had several years ex perience and is putting up a rattling good game at forward.
