Among those who attended the meet ing were the four members of last year’s team who are in college, many prominent society debaters, several new men and a dozen freshmen. Coach Buchen spoke to the men, tell ing them of Oregon’s debate schedule and the proposed change of the Utah debate from a post season contest to the second Friday in January. “If Utah agrees to this,” he said, “we must begin work at once.” He then explained in detail the new system of tryouts to be used this year, as described Saturday m the Emerald. “In these tryouts,” he continued, “a man must not only show that he can talk well, but also work well; they will cut out the fellow who can talk on a subject without knowing anything about it;—every man who makes good has got to hustle.” A bibliography of the material at hand has been drawn up and posted on the bulletin board in the Library. "Though it is not complete,” said the coach, "it will keep you busy for a while. We will have it complete before the debates are held. Expense will not be considered in getting the material for we intend to do everything possible to put the teams in a position to win.” OREGANA SALE TO CONTINUE ALL WEEK The great reduction sale of Oreganas, now being conducted under the aus pices of the senior class, is progressing nicely, reports Sales Manager Down ing. Such is the interest shown in the enterprise by the students at large that the sale will be continued during the remainder of the week and everything possible done to give each student ap opportunity to purchase the book. As many students as possible will be inter viewed personally by Mr. Downing and if possible an Oregana will be placed in every home. DR. FLOOD OF LETTERS IS AFTERMATH OF HAZING “The office is reaping the results of the recent hazing episcode,” said Bert Prescott, secretary to the President, this morning. “A flurry of letters pours in with every mail from principals of schools, editors, angry parents, teachers and others too numerous to mention. Some are “roasts”, but the great ma jority are friendly criticisms and con gratulations that at last hazing is stamped out for good.” I The New Slogan be the “Haberdasher Man” See the new Ralstons See the new Fall Wearables for men who know See the new Color Fabrics and get measured today MEN BUY AT “The Haberdasher” 505 Willamette Street Gillette Razors POCKET EDITION EXTRA BLADES ChambersHardware Hampton’s Cash Store Eugene Oregon 55 E.
