Heights school has questioned the
school's practice of having stu-!
dents say prayers at noon meals. 1

School District attorney Robert
W. De Armond has been asked
to issue an opinion in reply to
Tollesaar's request.
District SupL Charles Schmidt
said many elementary schools in
the district nave long followed
the practice of voluntary prayers
en the part of students at noon
meals.
He said be did not consider the
practice to be contrary to the
constitution as interpreted by the
high court.
Tollenaar said he was acting
as a private citizen.
Salem schools are still in sum
mer recess, and will open Sept.

morial Hospital, North Bend, late
Monday for treatment of injuries
suffered when be tripped and fell
on a pop bottle be was carrying,
reports Reedsport correspondent
Dawn Peseao.
The bottle broke and inflicted
severe abdominal injuries. The
boy's parents msbed him to a lo
cal doctor and be was taken to the
hospital by Cnger Ambulance. His
condition was reported as satis
factory this morning.
