Opens Today
Howard's Men's Wear Store in
Roseburg will hold a grand open
ing in its newly remodeled store
Thursday, reports owner Howard
Hunsaker.
The store building, owned by No-!
ble Goettel, has been completely
redone on the interior to present a
modern appearance, more light, a
better arrangement for display of
merchandise and additional stocks
for a wider selection.
During the remodeling of the
store, located at 507 SE Jackson
St., the business was moved across
the street into temporary quarters.
The interior was ripped out and
completely made over.
The ceiling has been given the
effect of being lowered, being paint
ed a dark color and with a dark
border for the upper walls. Light
ing fixtures have been dropped and
centered, to give a soft but bright
er effect. Floors have been retiled
and many new fixtures installed.
The rear of the building has been
rebuilt, and a marquee added.
Hunsaker said he has added a
large selection of teen-age cloth

Hunsaker came to Roseburg 15
years ago. For five years, until
July 1955 he was manager for
Herman's Men's Store, which is no
longer in business here. It was
then that he opened his own store
in the Goettel building, which was
remodeled at that time after hous
ing a variety store for many
years.
The building was again remodel
ed at the time of the blast of Aug.
7, 1959, then given the complete
modern touch this summer.
Frank Norton is manager of the
store. Other employes are Mrs.
Lee McCarter, Danny Fromdahl
and Larry Norton.
