Rehearsal Buffet Is Held
At H. J. Bauer Residence
Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Bauer, par
ents of the bridegroom-to-be, were
host and hostess at a charming
buffet Friday evening. The party
was given for members of the wed
ding party and relatives who came
from out of town to attend the
wedding of the Bauer's son, Ron
ald, and Miss LaVeta Ball. The
dinner was held after rehearsal.
The young couple exchanged vows
the following night.

Elects Officers
Thursday at the Eastern Star
Social Club meeting in Canyon-
ville, members elected officers for
the coming year. They include
Mrs. Joseph Anderson, president;
Mrs. Francis McCabe, vice presi
dent; and Mrs. Charles Pruden
secretary-treasurer. The group dis
cussed the Masonic-Easter Star
picnic to be held at Stanton Park
Aug. 11 at 12 o'clock. The affair
will be potluck. Coffee and water
melon will be provided. Canyon
ville and Riddle lodges will join
together at the picnic.
Also planned was a social club
picnic to be held at the home of
Mrs. Joseph Anderson Aug. 15 at
1:30 p.m. During the business ses
sion plans will be made for a rum
mage sale to be held in the early
fall.

Blue and white gladioli formed
the altar decorations at St. Jo
senh's Catholic Church July 20
when Billie Marie Collins and Wil
liam John Stoffel exchanged wed
ding vows in a double ring cere
mony. Father Marion Corbin of
ficiated at the 2 p.m. nuptial rites.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Edna Collins. The bridegroom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Her
man Stoffel. Both families reside
in Roseburg.
The traditional wedding march
es were played. Mrs. George Grat
ke was soloist.
Charles Collins gave his sister
in marriage. She was lovely in
her full-length gown of Rochellc
lace. The bodice was designed with
a scalloped square neckline. The
front of the skirt featured a bow
detail, and the back was a cas
cade of alternate layers of tulle
and lace ruffles. Her fingertip
viel was secured by a chiffon
rose. She carried a cascade bou
quet of white roses and carnations.
Mrs. Charles Collins was ma
tron of honor for her sister-in-law.
Linda Greenfield was bridesmaid.
Bolh were garbed in baby blue
satin with chiffon overskirts. Their
veils and slippers matched their

daughter, Sharon Vernelle of
Portland, to Jerry A. Moore,
also of that city. He is the

Sweet Springs, Mo. A fall
wedding is planned, to take
place in Wilbur.

Following the wedding, a recep
tion and buffet were given by the
bridegroom's parents at their home
in Melrose. Forty guests attended.
The couple honeymooned in Port
land and arc now at home in Mel
rose. For traveling, the bride wore
a two-piece aqua silk suit.
The bride attended Roseburg
High School and is employed at
Newberry's in Roseburg. The
bridegroom attended high school
in Anaheim, Calif., and is employ
ed as a surveyor for Douglas
County.
Coming from out of town for the
wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Ude
Bouer, from Anaheim, Calif.

Bride Of July
Shirley Jean Hastings, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Hastings
of Wolf Creek, and Thomas Brock
Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Asa
L. Lewis of Glendale. were mar
ried July 27 at the office of Jack
Day, Glendale Justice of the Peace.
Pat Hastings and Mrs. James
Stewart were witnesses.
The bride was lovely in a white
chiffon ballerina-length dress with
lace jacket and orchid-colored
accessories. She wore an orchid
corsage.
The bride was been a resident
of Wolf Creek for several years
and attended both the Wolf Creek
schools and the Grants Pass high
school.
The Lewis family has resided in
Glendale for the past five years.
Brock was graduated from Pros-
cott High School in Prescott, Ark.,
before the family moved here.
Since, he has attended Magic Val
ley Christian College in Alvon,
Idaho, and one term at Southern
Oregon College in Ashland.
The newlyweds are now making
their home in Glendale. Lewis
plans to return to Magic Valley
Christian College this fall, where he
has a scholarship. He will resume
his training there. He plans to be
a Physical Education and history
teacher and to coach basketball.
Gladioli in shades of white and
soft lavender decorated St.
George's Episcopal Church July 27,
for the wedding of Leveta Melvina
Ball and Ronald Lynn Bauer, both
of this city. White satin bows and
lily of the valley marked the pews.
The Rev. Alfred S. Tyson per
formed the double ring ceremony
which was attended by a large
number of relatives and friends.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Esco Ball of W. Brad
ford Drive. The bridegroom's par
ents are Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Bauer
of NW Almond St.
The traditional wedding music
was played by Mary Beth Hill,
organist.
Wearing a gown of white bridal
satin which had been fashioned by
her mother, the bride was given
in marriage by her father. The
dress, designed by the bride, had
a floor length skirt which featured
a full back flowing into a long
train. The scalloped neckline had
a wide yoke of Chantilly lace ac
cented with rows of seed pearls.
Tiny covered buttons were featur
ed on the long sleeves. The bride's
elbow-length veil was caught by a
dainty white satin rose headpiece.
Her bridal bouquet was of white
spider chrysanthemums. She car
ried a linen handkerchief which
had been given to her by Mrs.
F. A. Hayes, grandmother of the
bridegroom. The center stone in
the bride s engagement ring was
a family heirloom, also a present
from Mrs. Hayes.
Donna Sue Ball, sister of the
bride, was maid of honor. The
bridegroom's sister, Janet Bauer
of Portland, was bridesmaid. They
were dressed identically in lav
ender sheaths with short bolero
jackets and overskirts of lavender
and purple chiffon. They carried
bouquets of white gladioli with lav
ender net which matched their
headdresses. Their slippers and
gloves complimented their dresses.
Norman J. Belmont was best
man. Ushers were Gene Knoph of
Salem, cousin of the bridegroom;
Ed Zeigler, another cousin; and
Jack Smith of Glendale.
Following the ceremony, a recep
tion, given by the bride's parents.
was held in the parish hall. The
fireplace was flanked with baskets
of lavender and purple hydrangeas.
The bride's table was covered
with a white linen cloth and was
centered with a three-tiered colon
nade cake which was decorated
with lavender asters and cream
colored roses. The cake was top
ped with a miniature bride and
bridegroom in a heart. of lace. The
cake was cut and served by aunts
of the bride, Mrs. Bill Huckabay
of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs.
Troy Ball. Punch was served by
Mrs. Jim Doyle of Portland, aunt
of the bridegroom. The guest book
was presented by Mrs. Donald
Greenfield, cousin of the bride.
Other cousins, Mrs. Bobby Bert
Bali and Mrs. Robert E. Scott, had
charge of the gifts. .
For the wedding and reception
the mother of the bride wore an
orange and beige sheath dress with
beige accessories and a corsage
of tangerine carnations. The moth
er of the bridegroom was attired in
a blue sheath with matching ac
cessories and a corsage of white
and blue carnations.
The couple left on a honeymoon
on the Oregon coast and Portland,
the bride wearing a two-piece
sharkskin nautical suit with red
and white trim and a corsage of
white roses. The young people are
now at home to friends at 469 Win
chester Court Apartments.
The bride attended Roseburg
schools. The bridegroom went to
school in Myrtle Creek. He is em
ployed by Martin Bros. Container
it Timber Products Corp. at Oak
land. Out-of-town guests were Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Huckabay and sons, Bil
ly and Mike, of Sacramento, Calif.;
Mrs. Jim Doyle and Gregg and
Jeff, Miss Janet Bauer and Mrs.
