Residents of Hohegeis, a vaca tion resort about 12 miles south east of this city in lower Saxony, screamed their anger whenever a Communist uniform hove into view. It was opposite Hohegeis that an East Germany army sergeant and a private opened fire Thurs day on two persons who tried to escape the Soviet Zone. They shot from woods. Juras. Earlier it was announced in Washington, D.C., that 5.4 per cent of the persons on Oregon Aid to Dependent Children rolls had been found to be ineligible. The Oregon figure was identical to that of the national average found in a survey made last win ter by federal officials. Ihe sur vey was made public Thursday. Juras declared the Oregon Wel fare Department would go beyond minimum federal requirements, in his efforts to cut ineligible recipi ents lroill the rolls. Federal requirements now spec ify a continuous review of eligi bility; re-determination of eligibl- ltv for all ADC families every six months and state-by-stale reviews of program administration. Investigators Hired State investigators are being hired to probe suspected frauds and complicated property eases where eligibility 'is questioned by either the regular caseworker or the special reviewers. Welfare workers will check in dustrial accident and unemploy ment compensation lists to do sure welfare recipients aren't get ting money from those sources. New efforts are being made in the state to simplify welfare standards and policies in order to cut the chance of error, Juras said. (UPI) -- The bodies of six persons have been recovered from the ruins of a service station - restaurant near here that was demolished by an explosion of unknown origin late Thursday. Another persun was critically injured and five others were in fair condition in hospitals follow ing the explosion at Hammer, 17 miles north of here. Two others suffered minor in juries but were treated and later released from a hospital. The names of Ihe six dead were not released. Ontario provincial police still were searching the smoldering ruins for the body of a seventh person who was be lieved to have been in the build ing. In critical condition at SI. Jo seph's Hospital here was Giselle Lchelle, 15, Field. Out. Hospital officials said five others, Linda Duguay, 14.
